Chris Buchholtz is a corporate officer and legal executive, and he has been with RTI International for fifteen years. As Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of RTI, Chris provides corporate-wide legal advice and counsel on a wide range of issues, including domestic and international commercial transactions and contracts, federal government contracting, complex negotiations, regulatory matters, corporate governance, real estate transactions, and risk management.
Prior to RTI, Chris was with IBM, and before that he worked as a judicial clerk under The Honorable William L. Osteen, a United States District Court Judge in the Middle District of North Carolina.
Chris obtained his law degree from the University of North Carolina, where he graduated with High Honors, was elected to the Order of the Coif, and was a published member of North Carolina Law Review. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in history, summa cum laude, from the University of California Los Angeles, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of RTI International, Michael Kaelin is responsible for the finance, accounting, treasury, procurement, contracts, IT and corporate development functions.
Michael joined RTI in 2007 as Vice President of Finance for Social and Statistical Sciences, which is now Social, Statistical and Environmental Sciences. He was named Vice President of Research Group Finance in 2009 with responsibility for the finance teams in all research groups across the Institute.
With almost 30 years of financial management experience, Michael previously served as Vice President of Finance for Raleigh-based Misys Healthcare Inc., a leader in the health care information technology industry, where he led a unit that provided software solutions to the physician community. Further, he has held a number of senior financial positions in companies such as Channel Master and Productivity Point International as Chief Financial officer, as well as Coopers & Lybrand.
Michael is a licensed certified public accountant in North Carolina and serves on the Board of Magellan Charter School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in marketing from Davis & Elkins College, West Virginia, U.S.
